He was married to Carrie FRENCH (daughter of John FRENCH and Rachel M DAVIS) on 10 Jan 1903 in Decorah, Winneshiek County, Iowa. Carrie FRENCH was born on 20 Aug 1880. She died on 14 Jan 1961 in Postville, Allamakee County, Iowa. Irvin Rockwell HUGHES and Carrie FRENCH had the following children:
